Dr. Enry
Garcia da Silva
Dr. Enry Garcia was born in a family of veterinarians and graduated veterinary school in his hometown Brasilia/Brazil in 2004.

The first step in his specialty training was done by observing eye surgeries in humans; after visiting a high caseload cataract surgery service once weekly for 1.5 years, he had watched ~1500 cataract surgeries even before graduating veterinary school. This solidified the love to ophthalmology and helped him realize the importance of human ophthalmology in the advancement of veterinary ophthalmology.

Dr. Garcia performed ophthalmology rotations at several veterinary colleges in the USA as a veterinary student, and continued doing so in many others after graduation. After spending one year at UW-Madison (including 4 months at the Ocular Pathology Laboratory - COPLOW), he went on to complete a small animal internship at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, followed by a combined 3-year Ophthalmology Residency/Master’s degree program at Colorado State University.

Due to this, Dr. Garcia's experience in unique in terms of the wide exposure to renown veterinary ophthalmologists with whom he worked closely, both in academic environments and in private practices as well (approximately 30 board-certified ophthalmologists during the length of his training).

First Brazilian to be ever accepted into an ACVO-approved Ophthalmology Residency in North-America and to become an ACVO Diplomate. Performed, presented and published numerous clinical/research papers and case reports on dogs, cats, rabbits, snakes and even fish!

Dr. Garcia has been acting as a peer reviewer for the Scientific Journal "Veterinary Ophthalmology" since 2011, playing a central and critical part in the peer-review process that advances the understanding of our specialty.

Dedicated to keeping up-to-date with the latest medical and technological advances as well as research developments not only in his areas of interest but in general areas of Veterinary Ophthalmology; Dr. Garcia offers basic ophthalmologic procedures, cutting edge therapies including laser and drainage implants for glaucoma as well as complicated cataract surgeries.
