Melanie Landry Church attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she graduated with honors and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. At North Carolina State University she was president of her veterinary class for all four years and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She then did a private practice internship in small animal medicine and surgery in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Church completed her residency in Comparative Veterinary Ophthalmology in Phoenix, Arizona in 2012 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. She practiced in Warwick, Rhode Island and then moved to Orlando Florida where she practiced for six years. Dr. Church joined Animal Eye Care Associates in Virginia Beach, VA in 2020. She truly enjoys the medical and surgical aspects of veterinary ophthalmology and volunteers her services to help multiple zoological parks, wildlife rescue groups and aquariums both locally and across the country. She has spoken at a number of virtual and in-person meetings and enjoys educating veterinarians on various ophthalmology topics.
