Dr. Reed is a native Chicagoan who escaped to sunny California where she pursued her first career as a Professor in the department of English at a small university in the Bay Area of San Francisco. She completed an M.A. and an M.F.A. in Poetry while teaching, volunteering at the local Humane Society's Behavior Department, and visiting hospitalized patients as a Delta Society Pet Therapy Partner with her rescue Labrador-mix, Rudy. It was then, as a second career, that Dr. Reed followed her heart and pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. She spent two years completing a pre-med post-baccalaureate degree, followed directly by 4 years at UC Davis for veterinary school, a one-year small animal rotating medical-surgical internship, and a 3-year comparative ophthalmology residency in private practice. After becoming a Diplomate of the ACVO, Dr. Reed resides in the Phoenix-Metropolitan area where she loves the hot weather and her own personal little zoo.
