Dr. Audrey Yu-Speight is located in Austin, TX where she practiced clinically full-time in veterinary ophthalmology for 21 years. She is one of the veterinary ophthalmology consultants on the Veterinary Information Network (VIN).

She trained at Cornell University from 2000-2003 in veterinary ophthalmology where she worked in both the small and large animal hospitals on small, exotic and large animal species including dogs, cats, horses, cows, birds, alpacas, reptiles, small mammals, goats, sheep, and other exotic species. She joined the faculty at Cornell after completing her residency in 2003. Before her residency, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Cornell in 1999-2000. Dr. Yu-Speight attended Texas A&M University’s veterinary school from 1995-1999 where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.

Stanford University awarded her Chemical Engineering Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in 1990 and Master of Science (MS) degree in 1991. Before veterinary medicine, she worked as a Process Development R&D Chemical Engineer in the Biotechnology industry for four years. Her research areas from 1990-1995 included surface chemistry, microfiltration, chromatography and various ways to large-scale purify monoclonal antibodies and gene therapy DNA for clinical use. She continues to have a special interest in pharmacology and technology.

She has volunteered in the veterinary ophthalmology professional community over the years. She served on the Maintenance of Certification Committee from 2016-2019, Vision for Animals Foundation Grants Committee from 2011-2017 and the Credentials Committee of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists from 2006-2009.

Dr. Yu-Speight has received awards in public service, veterinary pharmacology, veterinary nutrition and veterinary physiology. In 2016, she was awarded the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice (TAVP) Clinical Referral and Consultation Award. TAVP is the continuing education-focused sister organization of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA), and the Clinical Referral and Consultation Award is given each year to a respected member of the veterinary referral community. She was honored to be the first veterinary ophthalmologist to win the award since 1984.
