Ramsey
Dr. Ramsey received his veterinary medical degree from Auburn University in 1991. He completed an internship at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1992, and subsequently completed a 3-year residency in comparative ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1995. He then accepted a faculty position at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) in 1995. He remained on faculty as an associate professor until 2002, when he left academia to pursue private referral practice. Dr. Ramsey has served as chairperson on the ACVO Professional Practice, Disciplinary and Appeals Committee, the ACVO Credentials Committee, the ACVO Examination Committee, the ABVO Appeals Committee, and is currently an ACVO Regent. Dr. Ramsey has authored numerous publications and textbook chapters, and continues to provide continuing education lectures nationally and internationally. Dr. Ramsey was fortunate to provide ophthalmology lectures to veterinarians at the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project in Rwanda, Africa, and to veterinary students at Makerere University in Uganda, Africa in 2012. He continues to provide consultation for the MGVP regarding ophthalmic injuries and conditions affecting Mountain Gorillas and is a board member of Docs4GreatApes (www. Docs4GreatApes.org). Dr. Ramsey has also provided consultation for pharmaceutical and research contract laboratories. His clinical interests include microsurgery, intraocular surgery, orbital surgery, ophthalmic photography and imaging. His primary creative outlets include creating burl wood sculpture, wood turning and bronze casting.
