Biography:
Dr. Brian Gilger is a native of Akron, Ohio, USA and received his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. After an internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City and a 3-year ophthalmology residency and graduate program at Auburn University in Alabama, Dr. Gilger returned to The Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in 1992. In October of 1995, Dr. Gilger joined the faculty at North Carolina State University as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. He is now a Professor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Gilger is the editor and author three editions of the textbook, Equine Ophthalmology, including the recent publication of the third edition (2017). Dr. Gilger is also an ocular toxicologist and is the editor of a 2014 publication of Methods of Pharmacology and Toxicology; Ocular Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Drug Development. He has over 140 peer reviewed scientific publications, over 30 book chapters, and his research interests include ocular immunology, ocular drug delivery, pharmacology, and toxicology.
