Dr. Hammond earned his doctor of Veterinary medicine in 1974 at Colorado State University (CSU). After completing his residency, he was awarded a Masters Degree in Comparative Ophthalmology in 1984. in 1985, he became a board -certified veterinary ophthalmologist as well as a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. He attended the University of Texas medical school and the Herman Eye Center in Houston, TX for further comparative ophthalmology training. Dr. Hammond was an affiliate faculty member in clinical sciences at CSU from 1982-1987. In addition, he has presented at national and local meetings, and has published several articles and book chapters. In addition to his main practice in the Denver metro area, Dr. Hammond travels to the western slope of Colorado to provide eye clinics.
