Dr. Audrey Yu- Speight received her veterinary ophthalmology training at Cornell University where she was educated on small animals, exotic species and large animals with an emphasis on horses. She worked on the faculty at Cornell after completing her residency in 2003, and completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Cornell in 2000 before her residency. Dr. Yu-Speight obtained her DVM degree from Texas A&M University in 1999.
In 2003, Dr. Yu-Speight followed her husband to Austin, Texas where she has been working in private ophthalmology specialty practice. In 2006, she founded Veterinary Eye Center and she also consults on VIN. Before veterinary medicine, she worked as a Chemical Engineer in the biotechnology industry for 4 years. She received her Chemical Engineering BS degree in 1990 and MS degree in 1991 from Stanford University. Her research areas included surface chemistry and drug process purification, and she continues to have a special interest in pharmacology and technology. Dr. Yu-Speight has received awards in public service, pharmacology, nutrition and physiology.
Dr. Yu-Speight continues to be active in her professional community. She has served on the Vision for Animals Foundation Grants Committee from 2011 to present, and on the Credentials Committee of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists from 2006 to 2009.
